Breeds
Lavender Orpington is the breed of choice on the ranch. They are large friendly dual-purpose birds that handle our harsh winters well with good looks to boot!
Barnyard Mix – I also have a barnyard mix pen that is free range that include; Lavender Orpington/Silver Barnevelder, Buff Orpington, Red Blue Laced Wyandottes and Silver Laced Orpinton hens and roosters.
Guineas – Guinea Fowl are excellent yard monitors, their pre-historic call always brings attention and their excellent foraging keeps the yard pest free. Did you know Guinea Hens can eat up to 200 ticks a day!
Gesse – Chinese and Pomerian Saddle back cross gesse keep the yard free of predatory birds and any trespassers at bay! 😉
Hatching Eggs
Hatching Eggs for Purebred Lavender Orpington are available beginning April 1st until July 1st and then again mid-August through to October 1st. When the birds are left to their own devices they hatch out there chicks consistently around labor day weekend in September and I give them the down time and allow them to set on eggs if they wish.
Hatching eggs available at request for Barnyard Mix, Guinea Fowl and Geese just get in touch through the contact page. We’d love to hear from you!
Chicks
Chicks are available in the spring by request. I have a 24 egg incubator and will do 1-2 hatches for myself.
Started barnyard mix chicks available in the fall, these are the eggs that the hens were allowed to hatch out and care for free-range at the end of summer.
